Society’s black-and-white gender roles impact the Aphrodesian Woman particularly negatively. Although society’s prejudices sometimes idolize her, they more often degrade and ostracize her. Other Woman, mistress, temptress, prostitute, harlot and whore, are words commonly used to disparage, disrespect, and diminish her. Marginalized, she is relegated to the shadows where she suffers in isolation. Society is thus stripped of her beauty, love, and mystery.
In order to self-actualize the Aphrodesian Woman must rise above these prejudices and live passionately, on her own terms.
